Journaling, prayer journaling...?

So, I’m kind of a journal writer. In the sense that I like to document things in my life. Nothing too deep, more like scrapbook journalling?

I’ve decided that maybe I should start a prayer journal because, I feel the need to seek and get closer to God (again). And I’m these days, I feel the need for Spiritual growth. Lasting growth. Where my life really, truly is Jesus first and everything else trickles down from Him. I need to hear His voice and to see and feel Him working in my life. I need an active Spiritual life because mine’s been dead for a little while.

But where to start? How does a prayer journal work exactly? How do I keep one?
What kind of prayers and request? Because sometimes, I think I’m just being self-serving with some of mine. Like, things that I want for myself and to see and do.

(I need rules. It’s a weird personality trait but, I need a flexible set of rules)

Ideas?

Mama Kim gave Papa Kim a long list of groceries for dishes she will prepare for Grams Kim’s birthday. Papa Kim buys an extra ingredients for one extra dish to which Mama Kim laments, “This is so wrong”.

Junior Kim: Just let me know what you want in about an hour.
Mama Kim: In an hour?!?! She wants me to choose between pizza and sushi?! Impossible decision. This gives me a headache.
